I Putu Aryadi Jaya (Arya) is an English and Indonesian teacher at the IALF Bali.
He graduated from Udayana University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. It never crossed his mind that he would become an English teacher even though he’d had a great interest in English since primary school.
He joined IALF in 2013 as a part-time teacher right after he finished his Trinity CertTESOL course and he officially started his full-time employment in 2015.
During his career at IALF, Arya has travelled all over the country. From March to May 2016, he was assigned to teach elementary to high school students and conduct English language training to teachers at the MPCC in Timika, Papua. A few months later, he was given an opportunity to take the Cambridge Young Learners Extension to CELTA at TBI Jakarta. In the following year, he had a teacher’s visit to Lismore, New South Wales, Australia, for a month to teach the Indonesian language and culture to primary and secondary school students and conduct professional development workshops for Indonesian teachers. At the beginning of 2018, he left for Lombok to teach English to the staff of the Oberoi Hotel Lombok. In the same year, he was deployed at the IALF Jakarta to teach Indonesian to the students of the NSLI-Y (National Security Language Initiative for Youth) program. Last year, in 2019, he flew to North Sumatra to conduct a modelling and mentoring program in teaching English for lecturers of IAIN Padang Sidimpuan.
Besides being a teacher, Arya is also a translator. He has completed his master’s degree in translation studies from Udayana University and is a full member of HPI (Himpunan Penerjemah Indonesia/Association of Indonesian Translators).
