Staff Profile – David Bradbury

David Bradbury has been teaching in Indonesia since 1996. He came to the country for eighteen months and never left. He initially found a teaching job in Medan, North Sumatra, then moved to Jakarta, where he took his CELTA qualification. He stayed in Jakarta for ten years teaching a wide range of classes and learners. As well as Indonesian students, he taught English to people from Japan, both Koreas, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Poland, France and Columbia. He then became involved in teacher training, and decided to take the Cambridge ESOL Diploma in Teaching English to Adults (DELTA). Armed with this qualification, he became a tutor for the CELTA, and worked on a number of courses.

At the beginning of 2012, David moved to Bali and became the Teacher Training Coordinator at IALF Bali. He developed and worked on a wide range of teacher training course, and also became the course director for the Trinity CertTESOL. Over the past decade, he has travelled around Indonesia running courses and workshops, as well as giving teacher training in Bali. Also in Bali, he teaches classes ranging from young leaners to EAP. Besides teaching and training, he is a moderator for the CertTESOL, meaning he assesses courses at other centres around Asia.

David's academic interests include teaching writing, phonology and the use of technology in the classroom. His personal interests include running, astronomy, Indonesian history and enjoying the wonderful variety of food here in Indonesia.
