Caroline Bentley is originally from England and trained as a TESOL teacher in the city of Sheffield. Before moving to Indonesia, she worked as a teacher in France, Portugal and the UK. She came to East Java in February 1992 as a volunteer with Voluntary Services Overseas, a British volunteer organization, where she worked at a Teacher Training College in Kediri, teaching undergraduate students and training the younger lecturers in communicative language teaching techniques. Caroline moved to Bali from Java in 1994 and joined IALF Bali in 1996, where she went on to study for a Diploma in TESAL and an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL.
Caroline has over thirty years’ experience in the field of English Language Training, as a teacher, teacher trainer, Team Leader, IELTS examiner, and an adviser to several education projects. She has been the Manager of the IALF Bali Language Centre since 2010. Caroline’s main areas of interest lie in providing professional development support to teaching staff, involving training, mentoring and coaching skills.
Caroline has two grown-up daughters and lives with her husband in Denpasar. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, eating out, watching Netflix, taking her dogs for walks and running.
