Agung Sudiani (Ani) has been IALF Projects Coordinator since 2011. She began working at IALF Bali in October 1996 and within a year of starting at IALF, the centre saw more and more students of Bahasa Indonesia from overseas coming to study Indonesian at IALF Bali. Ani soon enthusiastically immersed herself in the bustle of the training courses offered by the centre.
In the winter of 2002 she had a rewarding opportunity to travel to Australia to promote Bahasa Indonesia in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, presenting a workshop and visiting various High Schools.
In 2007 she started working for the ELTIS (English Language Training for Islamic Schools) project, and it was during this time that she was awarded a scholarship to pursue her master’s degree under the Australia Awards Scholarship (then ADS-Australia Development Scholarship) scheme, so she left the ELTIS project after a year to begin her ADS pre-departure training.
Ani took up the position of IALF Projects Coordinator in January 2010. “It was the perfect time to put everything I had learned about Project Management into practice,” she said. Since then, she has assisted with the coordination of IALF’s international projects in Timor-Leste and Kiribati, as well as a range of projects in Indonesia.
Ani finds the area of project management fascinating and it has been the highlight of her work at IALF. She started working with people with disabilities in 2016 through the ELTA (English Language Training Assistance) program initiated by Australia Awards in Indonesia and has developed a specific interest in that area ever since. In 2017 she was awarded a grant under the Australia Awards Alumni Grant Scheme to run a training program for a group of visually impaired people in Denpasar. Since then, she has been actively involved in various activities dedicated to people with disabilities.
