Mia began working at IALF in February 1996 after graduating from UI FISIP UI with her Diploma of Office Administration. Mia’s position at IALF is Front Office Reception and as a part of her job she handles phone calls, course and test registration enquiries and procedures. Mia is also responsible for making travel arrangements for IALF staff in the Jakarta office. Mia loves her job as she gets to see and meet new people every day. She says, “I think it’s interesting to meet and get to know all different kind of people and I also make new friends with some of our students”.
Mia lives in Depok and her journey to work in Jl. Rasuna Said each day involves both the train and angkot and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Mia likes swimming and travelling and has travelled to many cities around Indonesia, both privately and with IALF. Mia has also worked with IALF in Belitung, Malang and Surabaya.
Mia enjoys making new friends through IALF but to also follow these students after they complete their courses with IALF, or after they have completed their IELTS test. One of her friends is now an immigration officer posted in the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Another is an accountant who is now working in the UK, while one other former student is now organizing an educational foundation back in his home town in post-tsunami Aceh. Mia feels that she gets to see the world through them and that it is good to know that most of our students are successful in their chosen careers.
