ETELP

Timor-Leste English Language Program

For 5 years, 2011 – 2016, IALF managed the Australian government-funded ETELP project. The broad program goal was to improve English language teaching in Timor-Leste schools. This was done by developing an English Learning Centre (ELC) to support the pre-service program at the national university (UNTL) and by designing and trialling a district-based model for in-service training for English teachers in schools. By the end of the program, a nationally accredited framework was in place, comprising Certificate I & II in English language, and Certificate III in English language teaching methodology. The UNTL ELC continues to provide in-service training and supports English department students in their pre-service studies.
