This innovative project, developed under Australia Awards Indonesia, is designed to facilitate access to scholarships in provinces where access has proven to be limited. IALF works with local trainers in the targeted provinces, supporting them to deliver 12-week IELTS courses for prospective scholarship candidates. Currently, ELTA operates in East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Papua Barat, Maluku and Maluku Utara. Also, each year a course is conducted at IALF Bali for People with Disability.
The ELTA program is funded by DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade) Australia via Australia Awards Indonesia. The program aims to upgrade the recipients’ English skills to meet the minimum English requirements for the Australia Awards Postgraduate Scholarships program.
The ELTA trainees will be taught by ELTA Master Trainers and ELTA Coordinators from IALF. The training aims to improve the 4 language skills (Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking), and provide test-taking strategies for the IELTS test. In addition, ELTA will develop academic skills, including effective self-study techniques, and increase the trainees’ confidence in communicating in English in academic and social contexts.
