Placement Testing

To  identify if you are eligible for the course, you will need to take the IALF Placement Test (PT) and be at the minimum level of Pre-Intermediate 3. You can take the placement test on your phone, laptop or PC using Google Chrome or Fire fox.

You will need to complete 50 multiple choice questions within 45 minutes, and will immediately see your placement test results. The placement test is free and  can only be repeated after 2 months. Our team will contact you for payment details, the latest one-working day after you have registered for the course.

If you are at Pre-Intermediate 3 you will be able to join the IELTS Prep Online course. If your level is below Pre-Intermediate 3, you will need to join the IELTS Foundation course or the General English-Z course to increase your English level first.

Technology

What you will need:

• A laptop or PC with webcam, microphone and good speakers (a headset with microphone attached is recommended).  It will be possible to join with a handphone, but this is not ideal as you need to see other participants and to read documents/powerpoints etc.
• The Zoom app downloaded onto your computer - you can download from here.
• A good internet connection
• A printer (if possible)
• A quiet space

How it will work

This is a 'Blended Learning 60:40' course, combining Live Teaching via Zoom with online coursework.

With the online classes:

• You will be in a virtual classroom using videoconferencing software called Zoom
• Weekday classes will take place each day Tuesday to Friday from 18.00 to 19.30 WIB
• The teacher and all the students will be able to see and hear each other
• The teacher and students will be able to share documents and presentations with others during the class
• In the class, the teacher will also be able to allocate pairs or small groups for discussions and tasks etc.

With the out-of-class component

You will be given access to the online IALF Canvas account (Canvas is a popular Learning Management System used throughout the world for online learning). Canvas is easy to use for:

• regular communications (with teachers and with other students)
• accessing all relevant materials for the online classroom, including any pre-reading etc.
• accessing a range of interesting tasks and activities to follow up on each class
• doing a range of additional tasks and activities including practice tests

Your course will be taught at the highest standards by a mix of native speaker and local teachers.  All IALF teachers are highly qualified and experienced.

By the end of the course, you will be able to assess your performance and identify areas needing further study so that you can achieve your target IELTS score. You will get instructor feedback on homework assignments and results on test practice.
