Placement Testing

You will need to take the IALF Placement Test (PT) to enroll in the course. You can take the placement test on your phone, laptop or PC using Google Chrome or Firefox.

You will need to complete 50 multiple choice questions within 45 minutes. You will immediately see your PT results. The PT is free and can only be repeated after 2 months. Our team will contact you for payment details, within one-working day after you have registered for the course.

The General English-Z program is designed for teens, adults and professionals, that offers classes from Elementary to Intermediate levels. These courses are designed to build your fluency and confidence for work, travel or academic study. All four skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing are covered, with a focus on real-life English communication skills.

You must be at SMA level or above (minimum 16 years old) to join the General English-Z program, and need to sit a placement test to confirm your current level of English language ability. For younger students, we have a Young Learners program for SD and SMP students.

Students who enroll in the GE-Z program will follow through 4-stages of learning; Diamond, Emerald, Pearl and Ruby. Each stage will have different topics, language components and functions as well as tasks. Assessments are task-based and done continuously counting towards the final assessment at the end of each level. Each level consists of 16 lessons delivered through 8-weeks face-to-face learning with online coursework and assignments. Each lesson will be 2 hours long (1,5 hours in class and 30 mins for online coursework, students will meet twice a week for a total of 8 weeks.

Each lesson will be filled with various in-class activities and tasks designed to improve your General English skills, while enjoying good old interaction between the teacher and classmates. Online coursework uses Canvas LMS as your learning & resource hub outside of class hours.

This is a 'Blended Learning 75:25' program, combining face-to-face classes (total 3 hours per week) with online tasks and activities (total 1 hour per week). Courses run for 8 weeks for a total of 32 hours per level.

Face-to-face classes:

• The classes will take place depending on the schedule you choose (Tuesday & Thursday or Wednesday & Friday)
• Health & Safety protocols will be applied throughout the face-to-face class duration

Online Tasks & Activities

You will be given access to the online IALF Canvas account (Canvas is a popular Learning Management System used throughout the world for online learning). Canvas is easy to use for:

• regular communications (with teachers and with other students)
• accessing all relevant materials for the online classroom, including any pre-reading material, etc.
• accessing a range of interesting tasks and activities to follow-up on each class
• doing a range of additional tasks and activities

The General English-Z program is taught by a combination of native speakers and Indonesian teachers of English.

All our teachers have either a degree in English language teaching, or a first degree and a recognised international teaching qualification such as the Trinity College London Certificate / Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The General English-Z program is developed by IALF Bali, courses are accredited by BAN (Badan Akreditasi Nasional).

When you are at a higher pre-intermediate level you can sign up for an IELTS Preparation Modular Online course. Or if you are ready you can register for the Computer or Paper-based IELTS Test at IALF Bali.
