The IALF has an outstanding record in project management and
the provision of consultancy services in the field of English language
training for development.
Previous project and consultancy work includes:
- Conducting a Quality Audit of a pre-departure program in Vietnam;
- providing Short-Term and Long Term English language advisers
to universities throughout Indonesia;
- conducting a language training needs analysis in technical and
vocational high schools in Eastern Indonesia;
- participating in a feasibility study for an English language
development project in Vietnam;
- participating in the design of an institutional development
project based at the National University of East Timor;
- co-coordinating and co-delivering pre-departure English language
training in Vietnam;
- designing an English for Academic Purposes program for an Australian
university; and
- conducting market research for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
to investigate the feasibility of teaching English by television
throughout Asia.
Current Projects
The IALF currently manages two AusAID-funded development activities
in Indonesia
The IALF manages Kang Guru Radio English (KGRE), an AusAID-funded
activity that to assist Indonesians to teach and learn English,
to promote knowledge and understanding of Australia in Indonesia
and to provide information about Australia’s development cooperation
program with Indonesia.

In 2007 the IALF successfully tendered for the design and implementation
of the English language training for Islamic schools (ELTIS) activity.
ELTIS is an activity within the Learning Assistance Program to Islamic
Schools (LAPIS) facility which is supported by the Australian government
through AusAID.
The goal of ELTIS is to improve the English language ability of
girls and boys in madrasah tsanawiyah through the developing of
language and teaching capabilities of English teachers. ELTIS will
focus on two locations – East Java and West Nusa Tenggara
– and have coordinating bases in Surabaya and Mataram.
