Vlad Pejovic, Program Manager IALF Bali, was recently appointed as an Assistant Principal Examiner (APE) by IELTS Australia. Vlad has been an Examiner Trainer for several years and in 2006 became an IELTS Examiner Support Coordinator (ESC), overseeing Examiner Trainers in the Americas and South East Asia.

His recent appointment to the APE team includes more involvement in maintaining academic standards for the test in the production of training and other materials for examiners and in the development of test materials. IELTS Australia has one Principal Examiner (Mary Jane Hogan) and eight APEs, and there is a counterpart team coordinated by Cambridge University.

In his capacity as an ESC, Vlad will conduct trainer-training sessions in Los Angeles in September as part of initiatives to support the increased popularity of IELTS in the US and Canada.

IALF Surabaya was on the organizing committee of the first Walk the World event held in Surabaya. This event was held world wide to focus attention on fighting hunger.

Over 6,000 people, including 500 children from the School Feeding Programme, participated in the Walk which was coordinated by the World Food Programme. IALF Surabaya raised over Rp10 million through ticket sales and other activities. Many IALF students volunteered as helpers on the day of the Walk, 13th May, and this contributed to the success of the event.
