As part of Study in Australia week, organized by the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Kang Guru Radio English ran a workshop for English language teachers in the Jakarta area. Over sixty teachers attended the one day workshop held at the IALF in central Jakarta. The workshop was organized by the Australian Education Centre (AEC) and led by Rachel Pearson, the newly arrived member of the Kang Guru team. Rachel led several sessions that focused on the use of the Kang Guru In The Classroom Teacher Packs for teaching listening as well as some aspects of classroom management and methodology.

During her time in Jakarta Rachel had the opportunity to interview Miss World Australia 2004, Sarah Davies and Miss Indonesia 2003, Dian Krishna. Both were attending the opening of the Study in Australia exhibition organised by Austrade. Dian is a graduate of RMIT Melbourne and is now a reporter for Metro TV, a Jakarta-based television station. Highlights of Rachel’s interviews with Sarah and Dian will be featured on the Kang Guru radio program and in a forthcoming edition of the Kang Guru magazine.
