General Indonesian at IALF Bali

Learning the Indonesian language

Overview:

The General Indonesian Course at IALF Bali is suitable for those who need to improve their Indonesian but cannot devote themselves to an intensive period of study. It is a semi-intensive course which covers 40 hours of language training and follows a theme and task-based syllabus, which offers various opportunities to enable students to use the language in real life communication.

Entry Requirements:

Prior to course commencement students take a placement test consisting of a brief interview and written test. Test results are used to place students in the study group most appropriate to their level of language proficiency. Please call us to book your placement test.

Courses range from Beginners (Level 1) to Upper Intermediate (Level 6).

Course Content:

Each level (40 hours of tuition) follows a theme-based syllabus with tasks designed to encourage you to use your newly-acquired language in real life communication.  Grammar and vocabulary are taught as a means of facilitating communication rather than ends in themselves.

Assessment:

Assessment is on a continual basis with grades being assigned for performance in language tasks, homework and class participation.

Certificate:

Upon successful completion of the course students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Class Size:

A minimum of 4 people is required to run the class based on the result of IALF placement test.

Fees & Terms of Payment:

  • Tuition fees are as follows:

4 participants: Rp 3,000,000/person
5 participants: Rp 2,400,000/person
6 or more participants: Rp 2,000,000/person

The fee covers 40 hours of study, certificate and the use of IALF comprehensive facilities.

  • A Rp 1,000,000 deposit (nonrefundable) is required to confirm the course booking. The remainder is payable on the first day of the course.
  • Should the students withdraw from the course within the week prior to the course commencement, a cancellation fee amounting to 20% of the total course fee is applied.
  • Should IALF cancel the class for any reason, full refund will be paid, or the fee can be transferred to the forthcoming course schedule.
  • The course fee is not transferable or refundable should the students withdraw from the course at any time during the course.
  • The fee for the placement test is Rp 50,000 (nonrefundable).

 

Study Bahasa Indonesia in Bali 2014

The IALF Study Bahasa Indonesia in Bali program, offers an attractive package combining 40 hours of Indonesian language training combined with 20 hours of cultural studies introducing Indonesian, and particularly Balinese, culture.

Entry Requirements:

The placement test consists of a written test and a brief interview. The written test will be conducted online and the interview will be conducted on the first day of the course.  On the basis of your result you will be placed in the study group most appropriate to your level.  The maximum number of students in a group is 12.

Cultural Studies:

The cultural studies program comprises a series of lectures and workshops led by experts in the respective fields.  Topics include: dance and music, cooking, batik making, etc.  There is also a full day trip at the weekend.

Classes are usually conducted from Monday to Friday in the mornings, leaving the afternoons and weekends free for the cultural program and socialising with your host family.

Assessment:

If you are especially interested in Indonesian culture, engaging yourself in the everyday social life of the Indonesians within the heart of a host family is a memorable experience.  The family provide accommodation, breakfast and evening meal, and transportation to and from IALF for the duration of your stay.

Course Fees:

The fee for the Study Bahasa Indonesia in Bali package is Aus$ 1,610, which includes:

  • airport transfer
  • homestay

The fees for individual parts of the package are:

  • Indonesian Language              Aus$ 680

Overview:

IALF Bali offers customised programs of Indonesian courses for groups with specific interests. You can apply for these programs at any time of the year.
Previous programs of this type have included:

  • language and culture courses for teachers of Indonesian from high schools in NSW, funded by the NSW Department of Education
  • language and business culture course for students from the Faculty of Business, Edith Cowan University
  • familiarisation course for businessmen and senior government personnel from the Northern Territories

The IALF recommends a maximum group size of 12 students, all having similar levels of proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia. A cultural, education or other study focus can also be arranged, according to the group’s interests.

Accommodation can be arranged either with host families (homestay) or at hotels.

Through consultation with clients regarding various aspects of the program, IALF Bali will design a syllabus ensuring that the group’s specific needs and purposes are met.
